In my Freelancing course, we had a meeting today with Khaled El-Al-Ahmad, a “Social Media Manager @ZainJO | Social Media Consultant / Trainer @DigiArabs” about branding ourselves via social media, and the following are my notes I took:

First/

On our social media accounts, we have to choose a good profile picture that shows the above part of your body, so people can know your real identity, and you have to write an overview that shows your interests and the services you give to people and any other important work and achievements that show the person you are, because your accounts in social media is a reelection to your real personality.

Second/

When you are going to use any of the social media platform, you have to know its nature, for example: Instagram is used for lifestyles (food – fashion – sport – etc.), LinkedIn is a platform for work and business, Twitter is a news platform and Facebook is a platform for everything and everyone use it. So the important thing is to know which one to use if you are going to share a product or a service you offer. Sharing your posts on several platforms at the same time won’t make sense if the post is shared on the wrong platform.

Third/

You have to be careful while using social media platforms, and remember not to use them as a cafe, sharing details about your everyday life, because your accounts on these platforms will reflect your personality!

So, fourth/

You have to think of the most three interested subjects for you and start read about these subjects, then re-write what you have read and share it on your accounts, any person who will open your profiles will then know your field of interest, and this might open a door for a job for you, if one of the visitors likes what you write and share.

Finally, Fifth/

And it’s about Facebook;
we know that Facebook supports sharing a post with (texts, pictures, videos, live and links). Facebook gives a free access for the first four more than the final one which is adding links on the posts, why? because they prefer to make their people inside the platform and don’t let them go out.
But people are intelligent and they created a solution for this, so when they want to share a link, they will write a text in the post, and putting the link in the first comment, in order for the post to reach a wider audience.

I started to apply the above mentioned points on myself by writing this post (point no. 4) and sharing it with you in my own way (the last point). I hope that you learned something new from this blog and I will continue researching and reading intensely to share things about my experiences in my field and work as much as I possibly can, and not only sharing our everyday news that has to be kept private.
