إن كنت من محبي الأفلام أو المسلسلات الكورية، ستعيش أجواء الرواية كما أرادت الكاتبة تمامًا. سيتسنى لك تخيل البيت الكوري في القرية والطرق الرملية والحافلات المتجهة من القرية إلى المدينة ومحطات القطارات. ستتمكن من تخيل الأشخاص وتفاصيلهم، طريقة حديثهم وماهية صراخهم وبكائهم وهمسهم وسعادتهم. ستكون كما لو أنك تشاهد فيمًا أو مسلسلًا.
الرواية تعكس الكثير من الثقافة لكورية، عن طعامهم وشرابهم وأعيادهم وطقوسهم وعلاقاتهم وحياتهم الاجتماعية.
الحديث في الرواية يدور عن عائلة اعتادت العيش في الأرياف إلى أن كبر الأبناء واستقروا في المدينة تاركين والديهم في الريف إلى أن تسنح الفرصة أن يحضروهم للعيش في المدينة معهم. وكان التركيز على حياة الوالدة التي حالها كحال كل الأمهات اللتواتي يضحين بأنفسهم لأجل أبنائهن. وأن كيف صار الأبناء يتذكرون تضحيات أمهم من أجلهم عقب حدث آلمهم جدًا.
الرواية حزينة. اللغة العربية المستخدمة ضعيفة، لكن ماشي الحال يعني..

بالنسبة لي، كان الحزن يخيّم عليّ وأنا أقرأ الحكاية. وجعلني هذا أبدأ أراقب تصرفاتي مع أمي أكثر وأحاول أن أكون أكثر طاعة لها.
فلتحيا كل الأمهات، وليحفظن الله ويرحمهن ويحسن خاتمتهن.

If you like to watch Korean films and series, you will get everything the writer wrote in the book. You will be able to imagine the Korean home in a rural area, the roads, the buses that ride people from these rural areas to the city and the train stations. You will imagine the characters and how they behave. You will imagine how they speak, shout, cry, buzz and laugh. It just will be as if you are watching a film.
The story is about a family that used to live in a rural area until the all the sons and daughters went to live in the city leaving their parents there waiting the best time to brought their parents to live with them. But the main topic is about the mother who used to sacrifice to make a good life for her family. Then everyone started to remember all the good things the mother did to give them a better life when a bad thing happened to her.
It’s a sad story that makes me really sad and angry but also makes me pay more attention on how do I behave with my Mom and try to be good to her and help her and make her happy and comfortable as much as I can.
